“To go into the dark with a light is to know the light.

To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,

and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,

and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.”

 — Wendell Berry

One of the most meaningful expressions of any subject, for me, is shadow that is cast by natural light. Light and Shadow allow me to step into a world created of fantasy or, perhaps a world I once already knew.

As a child, I was fascinated by the dance between light and darkness and the images it created within my mind. Light and shadow changed the perception of the way I saw things by creating a whole other world of illusion — a whole other world of reality.

Within my photographs, I attempt to transpose this illusion into a sense of my own inner world. This series, “The Illusory Depth of Shadow” was created with this vision in mind.
